Elections & the Classic

Ok Guys, the nominations for board members are over and we're in the election mode now.Please take time when you're at the course in the coming month and vote for three of the names on the ballot. The ballot box will be next to the handicap computer. Voting will take place through the first day of the Holiday Classic and winners will be anounced on sunday the second day of the Classic. The Holiday Classic is just a month away and cheaper than years past. Caleb has already sent out e-mail notices for you guys to sign up for this last major of the year.It's a two day tourney, with 9 am shot gun both days. It'll be a combine two man best ball for nine holes and 9 holes champman the first day and then Sunday will be a two man bestball for eighteen holes.This should be a great tourney to finish the year. So find a partner and get signed up, Please help the pro shop out by signing up earlier than later.

Morning Guys, this posting is to let you know that nominations for Mens Club Board is now open and will be until Nov 1st. There are three position up for election. This is a great time to throw your hat in the ring and make tour thoughts and opinions heard. These are three year terms, meeting 4 to 6 times a year. This a great chance help to shape the future of the Club. There'll be a nomination box setting next to the Handicap computer. The elections will be held during the month of Nov. and results will be announced during the Holiday Classic in Dec.

A heads up on a couple of  up coming events, this weekend  is the all indi net tournament with divisions, tee times. The Wed nite final is coming up on the 23rd of Oct.

YOU NEED TO KNOW

Evening Guys, just a few things you need to know. We're coming down the home sterecht of the season,with a lot still riding on your play.The 50ty money list is still wide open for the year. Rhodes Cup competition is really heating up, with about 60ty or 70ty players still fighting it out for those 24 covetted spots.So the word is keep playing as much as possible. This weekend we have Ballbuster tournament worth alot of points,and for those 60ty and older we'll a white tee division also.So get signed up asap. Lastly the Club Championship is just a month away so get signed for that major. It will be shot gun start both days.

PS All wed.Nite players need to remember post their wed nite score. We're still having to remove moneies won on wed nite for nonposting

PART ONE OF MEMBER-MEMBER

Member –Member players, of which there are 108 players. On Friday all day, there will be on going practice rounds with an option pot game. Friday afternoon around 4:00 PM, the putting contest will start. $10 per team per try, with the format being team alternate shot or put. This will continue into Saturday afternoon. Also Friday nite from 7:00-9:00 pm all teams will be available for bid in a silent auction format. You can place bids on the team or teams you feel will win the tournament. The total sum collected will be paid out to the top 10 teams based on the Championship 9 hole final scores. If you don’t bid or don’t have the winning bid on your team, you will have first opportunity to purchase half of the team before the first matches begin on Saturday morning. If you do not buy at least half of your team, you will forfeit any possible auction winnings should your team make the final top ten.


All auction bids on teams, will be paid to the tournament committee by 7:15 AM Saturday morning. Cash only will be accepted!!!!!!!!! Please check in at the Tournament committee table, after checking in at the golf shop.

If you are not playing a practice round Friday, then by all means come to the coarse Friday afternoon and evening and take part in the fun. There will be some Free Adult beverages available.

Member-Member Handicap

Guys, with the up coming Member-Member tourney,we have one more handicap update on 15th of June. This is the index we 'll be using for the tournament. The handicap committee has your current playing index posted on  the bulliten board next to the computer. If you have any issues with your index, please contact Walker Martin to get them cleared up. We will not re-adjust handicap or indexes the last week before the tourney. Do yourself a favor and have full and clear knowledge of your handicap you will be playing.

Hey guys, we're a month out from the Member-Member. The BEST TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR!!! YOU really don't want to miss this tourney. It's three days of the best golf you want to play all year. Last year there was about $11000 won by players in this tounament. Approximately two thirds of the field cashed one way or another. We have a practice around on Friday with a pot game, we have 27 holes of match play within your 6 team field and 18 holes of match on Sunday, with a final championship 9 holes (if your team qualifies) on Sunday afternoon. We'll have a putting contest going on Friday and Sat,with the finals on Sunday. There'll be a special event auction takeing place Friday,( 4pm to 8pm). You'll have $ 75.00 to spend on a Taylor Made Merchandise display. There'll be daily pot games going each day and more. If your a new member this year you really need to play in this event, you'll not be disappointed. I'm enclosing a copy of  the sign up sheet. Did You Know

Hey guys, did you know the first major of the year is just ten days away. If you plan on playing then you need to get signed up for a tee time. If you don't have anyone to play with then call the golf shop and they will find you a spot. This is a two day tourney, with tee times on Sat. and a shot gun on Sunday. By the way you have to be a paid up member of the mens club to play in this tournament. For you new members this a great way to learn what Harbour POINTE COMPETITION is about and meet other members.On that point, on behalf of the Harbour Pointe Mens Club board I WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME THE TWENTY NEW MEMBERS who have joined this year.
   I also want you to know that all Individual play on wed. and sat . mens club play will have two divisions. Green and White tees. No deductions of 2 stroke for playing in white division if your 60ty and older. White division will be net only play and flighted if there are ten or more players in that Division.
     You need to know that the golf shop is takeing tee times for wed. nite play two weeks in advance. So please help the golf shop by making tee times for each Wed you plan on playing , these will not be automatic tee times each week.
   Lastly you need to know that KP and Duce pots will be available each Wed nite on the front and back nines.     Thanks Big D

Man Golf

OK all you seniors 60ty and older, this is your chance to compete in your own division from THE WHITE TEES. Man golf is a gross only tourney, with no handicap involved. We all will be playing equally from the white tees in our division. Anybody younger will be playing from the member tees. The amount of prize money we'll be playing for, will depend on the number players in our division, IE ( 50 % of golfer playing in the tourney are in our division, then we'll get 50% of pot and so on.) If we have more than 10 players in our division then we'll break it down into flights for each divisions.  This is a tee time tourney, so you can pick when you want to play. CALL THE GOLF SHOP AND GET SIGNED UP.  I loved to have more  seniors signed up than the Young bucks. Let's do it.   Thanks Don

March Tourney & more

What a Great day we had for the Par Three Tourney this past Friday. Really makes me anxious for spring and March's tourneys. The next one in line is Man Golf on Saturday the 2nd, not Sunday the third as I previously stated on my last posting. This is gross only golf, flighted in two divisions. There will be members tees and white tees ( for seniors 60ty and older.) The number of flights in each div. will be determine by number of players in each division. Flights will be determined by handicap groups ie.( 0-10 & 10-20 ) that's just an example, not the real thing. This will also be the opening day for posting handicaps, so tournament and regular handicaps will start changing again. This is a tee time tourney so give the golf shop a call and reserve your time. If you need a spot they'll find you a group. This has been a really popular tourney in the past so lets get out and support the Club.
  Next on the schedule is the first really really big golfing day of the year, Wednesday Nite Kickoff ( 2 Man best ball ). This is March , Wednesday the 27th, shot gun start 12:30. This will be the official start for Rhodes Cup points for the year. We'll be passing out updated Mens' Club info and this years bag tag and more. So put this date on your calender and come ready to play.

Coming Events

Here's what's up next in the coming couple of weeks. Friday the 15th, a 12:30 sg, is the 5 man Par three tourney. One gross and one net. Get a team together and get signed up. If you don't have a team, call the golf shop and they'll find you a spot. Right now the weather is suppose to be partly sunny and 53. Then on Sunday March 3rd, will be Man Golf indy gross play. There'll be two divisions, Members and Senior white tees. Members 60ty and older can play from white tees. Remember this is all gross play. Should be a lot of fun. Also this will be the first posting tourney of the year, as Handicap posting will once again be open for the year. Lastly, membership renewals are open for the coming year, so help the club and the golf shop and get your memberships dues paid.

Morning guys, GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!! I have a couple of things this morning for ALL YOU MEMBERS.
Just finished up the final money list for 2012 and this is why we play and compete on Saturdays and Wednesdays during the year. In 2012 the total winnings earned for Sat. & Wed. play was $26020.00. Total side games winnings earned (ie, KP, CLOSET TO, SKINS ), were $ 33312.00 for a over all total of just under $60000.00.This why you become a member or you renew your membership at Harbour Pointe.
I'll have the final standings posted on the bulletin board this week.
   The second thing comes from the Handicap committee, concerning being registered to more than one Handicap system. Please read this and take heed
If a player maintains a Handicap Index at more than one club, and the clubs do not use a networked computation service, all acceptable scores must be posted at all clubs. (See Decision 6-5/1.) This will result in the same Handicap Index at all clubs unless there are different revision dates, or administrative problems such as mailing delays, or the clubs are in regions with different active seasons. Failure to post all acceptable scores at all clubs produces a Handicap Index that is not based on the player's best 10 differentials of the last 20 scores and consequently may not be termed a Handicap Index. If a player has a different Handicap Index at different clubs, despite posting all scores at all clubs, the committee in charge of the competition may require the player to use the lowest Handicap Index when competing with players from more than one club. (See Decisions 6-5/2 and 6-5/3.)
     If we find that you are using two system and they are not up to date we will use the lower of the two Handicap for competition at Harbour Pointe and will also send you the following e-mail if you are not in compliance
It has been determined that at this time you are currently registered to more than one handicap system, and that these handicaps are not exact duplicates. Under the USGA rules stated below unless these system are identical they may not be considered to be accurate representations of your true golf scores. Until you correct this situation all Harbour Point events you play will be by the lower of the handicaps.

HAPPY NEW YEAR & WHAT'S UP

HAPPY NEW YEAR BOYS AND GIRLS, hopefully you're not to worse for the wear after indulging in a little toddy for the body last nite. I did miss not having a New Year Eve party at the Club, but traditions are made to broken, right?. Well it's the new year and first tourney of the year will be on Sat the 5 of Jan. It'll be 10 am shot gun, 2 best ball of the five some. The weather is projected to be cool and no rain until late in the day. I've already signed up my team, 3 rashys and a couple well known club members. Ready to kick any other team's butt. lol. The next tourney on the list will be on the 19th on Jan. Look for e-mail alerts from the golf shop. Here's hoping that the new year, brings a renewed interest in the club and our membership grows exponentially!!!!!!!!!!
